Future Maker Award
1 Award of €5,000
The Future Maker award rewards excellence in craftsmanship and innovation for work created by makers who are embarking on a career in a craft-based discipline. This award provides practical support and professional encouragement to a craftsperson at a critical point in their career. In addition to substantial funding this award offers the opportunity to participate in a professionally curated exhibition and to a significant profiling in a relevant publication or national media.
Short-listed applicants will be asked to submit up to 3 pieces of work for assessment in all categories. Applicants will be notified directly by CCoI within 3 weeks of submission deadline.
Innovation Award
1 Award of €2,500
This award provides support to a craftsperson wishing to explore the use of new technologies in their craft practice. The award is intended to enable practitioners to push the boundaries of their current practice through the innovative use of 3D printing and scanning, rapid prototyping, water and laser jet technologies, open source design. The award also seeks to promote collaboration between craftspeople, designers and other sectors.
Design IT
1 Support of €1,600
This support is towards the development of a design idea or concept. It rewards design excellence when developing an object or product intended for mainstream markets. Objects or products must display intelligent consideration regarding sustainable use of materials, manufacturing and making processes and awareness of target markets.
Residencies and Training
2 Supports of € 1,200
Towards the cost of national or international craft based residency programmes or specialised course or master class in a craft discipline. Residency funding aims to support practitioners in the development of their practice and skills and to gain experience of international trends and best practice.
Networking
3 Supports of €500
Towards the cost of attending an international trade fair to conduct research relating to or to take a stand in order to increase international sales. To attend a seminar or conference that will enhance learning relating to specific craft discipline or process. The networking support aims to provide the opportunity to learn, network and build contacts in an international arena.
Studio Assistance
2 Supports of €2,000
To assist with costs relating to the set up of a craft based studio/enterprise OR towards costs for further development of existing studios/enterprise including: equipment, workshops, training. Applications for the development of group-based studio/enterprise are encouraged.
Exhibitions Assistance
2 Supports of €1,000
To extend and promote opportunities for craft based exhibitions and/or participation in craft and design trade fairs nationally and internationally. Applications for solo and group exhibitions/trade fairs are accepted.
