IAF Seeks Invigilators for Architecture Biennale Venice
We are looking for students, recent graduates and others with a strong interest in the field of architecture and culture to volunteer as invigilators at the Irish Pavilion during the Venice Architecture Biennale from 26th August to 30th September 2010.
Over 60 countries will take part in the largest architecture exhibition in the world, which runs from 29th August to 21st November. This year’s main exhibition is curated by Kazuyo Sejima, with the theme ‘People meet in Architecture’ (www.labiennale.org/en/architecture).
Ireland’s exhibition, commissioned by the Irish Architecture Foundation and curated by Tom DePaor, Peter Maybury, Alice Casey and Cian Deegan is entitled Of de Blacam and Meagher.
It is intended that invigilators will spend two weeks in Venice as part of a team who will invigilate the exhibition during opening hours 10am–6pm, six days a week. The invigilators must greet the visitors, answer any questions related to the exhibition and provide security for the exhibition.
The Irish Architecture Foundation will cover the costs of flight and accommodation, but is not in a position to offer payment.
Demand for this job is high and we have only 5 positions to fill. Assessments will be made on your ability to pitch to do the job and your articulation of the benefits to you in spending time at the world’s largest architecture festival.
If you are interested in being involved, please send 800 words max by 16 June to Katie Darling at info@architecturefoundation.ie, explaining why you think you should go to Venice, if possible, specifying dates when you would be available. Enclose separately a short edited CV, with two referees. We will arrange to meet the shortlist before we make our final decision.
Italian and other languages are desirable.
